The big question: will it make money?

but will it make moneyToo many people start a new activity, read a blog, have a conversation without considering a really important question: will it add to your revenue? If not, think again! After all it is a business you’re running, right?

And yes, I do realise you may be running a not–for–profit or a social enterprise. Guess what? It still has to make money, and preferably lots of it. Otherwise there’s no way you can do all the good you want and change the world!

While it’s important what we do is aligned with our passion, and we love what we do, it’s also important that we can feed ourselves and our families. That’s why revenue has to be the first priority. Now, once you’ve looked after revenue you obviously need to look after the profit, or you’ll be making money, just not for yourself!

* Here’s a challenge for a lot of people providing personal services (coaching, accounting, hair cuts…): Are you ready to charge what your clients should be paying, or are you willing to continue charging only what you feel you’re worth?
