Stay in touch

stay in touchA real core element to communicating effectively is being consistent about it. How do you feel if somebody calls you out of the blue and you haven’t heard from them for six month? Or sends you an email with a special offer, and you don’t recognise who it is… Are you likely to buy from them? Get my drift?

There are several ways you can do this, but there are only two ways to guarantee your success staying in touch via email: You either set up an auto-responder (program a string of email communications pieces in advance and then let the system send them out at regular intervals) or you schedule it in your diary with a recurring event, and just stick to it. The appeal of the auto-responder is of course that you can ‘set and forget’ it. Nice when things run on autopilot for you…

The other good reason to use an auto–responder is that it allows you to concentrate the writing of your marketing messages; spend a day just writing up your emails, and program them in. Much easier than every week trying to come up with fresh inspiration in the midst of everything else going on.

When something special happens (eg a special promo or event) shoot of an extra message and surprise your crowd!

While email is a great way to stay in touch, it’s only a light touch. Identify within your list those people that are more important, and schedule a call with them at least every quarter.
