Make a To–Do list! Yes, I’m serious. The business owner’s worst enemy is interruption. You have to stay focused.
You get a phone call, or come up with a new idea. That’s great! But you need to stay on the track you were on before the interruption. Simply add the new task that just got created to your to–do list. Unless it’s urgent consider not answering the phone at all.
Whether you have an electronic to–do list or one on paper, re–prioritise at least once a day. Preferably create your list the evening before so you can start each day with clear mental focus.
Most of us live in a world full of interruptions, and the lack of focus severely hampers our productivity. Ticking things off your to–do list gives you a wonderful sense of accomplishment. Every day.
