Dress well, groom better

dress wellSkimp on movie tickets and expensive food, but don’t be shy when it comes to your looks. ’First impressions count’ is really true. Whether people see you in person or in a video, what you wear, how you’re groomed and how you carry yourself sends a whole lot of subliminal signals to the other person.

The other person probably won’t even think about it, but in that very moment, they will form an opinion about you, including how much you’re able to charge them. Ouch!

If you don’t feel that confident in your sense of style, ask a friend who knows more than you; they’ll often be delighted to help.

Check yourself in the mirror. Invest in yourself. Better clothes, better hair, better body. After all, you are the single greatest asset you have. So don’t shortchange yourself. Think laterally—your image is all about you. Your scent, your voice, your mannerisms.

A local real estate agent I know has a voice that sounds like he just sucked helium. Not great for business. You just cannot take him seriously, but he would probably need less than 10 hours of speech therapy or voice coaching and his business would improve significantly.
